“I have X medical condition – can I still do Y BDSM activity?”
This is a question which, with an almost infinite variety of variables inserted at X and Y, comes up with a certain amount of regularity on the BDSM scene. The purpose of this section is to provide some of the answers you seek, and to also provide you with some good questions to ask.
This is a website – I don’t know anything about you, not even who you are, let alone the details of your medical condition(s), so everything on here will have to be interpreted with common sense by you. I’ll try to make everything as widely applicable as possible, but there will inevitably be things that are mentioned that don’t apply to you, and things that aren’t mentioned that would have been useful to you.
This section is about health issues as they relate to BDSM – health in general is a huge topic and one about which there is lots of excellent information available on the internet (and lots of complete rubbish as well), and I have no desire whatsoever to spend my time rewriting what others have covered. What I will try to do is provide links to sites that I think are good to give you the general background on any condition I am considering. Likewise, I won’t go into the detail of, for example, how to treat hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) – if you want to know, the information is elsewhere. This website is for discussing what hypoglycaemia means for your BDSM play. This website does not deal with first aid.
This website is not meant to replace your doctor or local pharmacist or other relevant health professional who can actually talk to you face to face and discuss your particular needs. So, with all that in mind, we can now carry on. |
